Biography

  • Dr. Sveva Bollini got her Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology and her PhD from the University of Padua, Padua, Italy in 2005 and 2009, respectively. During her PhD she worked on the analysis of the cardiomyogenic potential and the paracrine cardioprotective effect of the amniotic fluid stem cells with Dr. Paolo De Coppi, from the Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine Section, UCL Institute of Child Health, London, UK.

  • From 2008 until 2013 she worked as Post Doc Research Associate on the lineage characterization and the endogenous reactivation of the resident epicardium-derivedprogenitor cells for cardiac repair and regeneration with Prof. Paul Riley, first in the Molecular Medicine Unit at the UCL-University College London and then at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics of the University of Oxford, UK.

  • In 2014 she was presented with the “Rita Levi Montalcini” Young Investigator Award from the Italian Ministry of Research and Education and invited back to Italy with a grant funded to study the regenerative role of the human amniotic fluid stem cell secretome to resurge the endogenous programme of heart repair within the cardiac tissue. At present she works as Assistant Professor in the Regenerative Medicine Laboratory at the Department of Experimental Medicine, University of Genova, Genova, Italy.
