Present research in my laboratory involves studies on the proliferation, metastasis and recurrence of breast cancer. In these pathogenic events of cancer, dormancy, angiogenesis and the role of tumor initiating cells in cancer reoccurrence have been recognized as crucial regulators of cancer progression, metastasis and reoccurrence. I have been very much interested in understanding these processes in the tumor cells and the surrounding cell population. I am also interested in studying the contribution of complex epigenetic processes involving various transcriptional regulators and chromosomal structural features in the regulation of genes including metalloproteases that are associated with angiogenic spread, metastasis and cancer reoccurrence.
