Dr. Laurent Fattet was born and raised in the eastern part of France. He moved to Lyon to pursue his undergraduate studies at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL) and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2007 and his Master’s degree in 2009. He then joined the laboratory of Dr. Ruth Rimokh at the Cancer Research Center of Lyon as a part of the Genetics and Cell Biology graduate program. During his PhD, Dr. Fattet studied the involvement of the recently identified protein TIF1 in the regulation of TGF signaling and its contribution to the induction of a cellular program leading to the promotion of breast tumor cell invasion. In March 2013, Dr. Fattet obtained his PhD from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and joined the laboratory of Dr. Jing Yang at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in July 2013 as a postdoctoral researcher working on the mechanoregulation of breast cancer metastasis.
