Reji Manjunathan is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Vascular Biology Lab, AU-KBC Research Centre, Anna University, India. She has completed her B.Sc and M.Sc from Department of Zoology, University of Kerala, India. She completed both M.phil and Ph.D from Department of Genetics, University of Madras, India. Her M.Phil project was focused on the activation of adipocytes by chemotherapeutic agents and analysis of their anti- obesity properties and Ph.d was on the study about the interaction of leptin (Ob gene product) with endothelium and its potential to induce angiogenesis. She also performed research work for the screening of angiogenic and antiangiogenic properties of compounds with respect to its therapeutic application in various pathological conditions like cancer and cardiovascular diseases. She got awarded as Marie Curie Research Fellow (Italy) for European Union funded Project and done project on the topic of bone and angiogenesis with respect to bone fracture healing. Her current research work deals with the role of leptin on endothelial nitric oxide (eNOS) activation and NO production during angiogenesis with respect to wound healing and cardiovascular diseases and also include understanding the role of endothelial NO on angiogenesis under hypertension milieu.
