Biography

  • Giovanni Nano enrolled the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in the academic year 1983/1984, attending the clinical activity in the Divisions of Internal Medicine, Respiratory Physiopathology and Vascular Surgery. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1990 with the Thesis "Aortic surgery in high-risk patients". 
  • After graduation he further attended the Division of Vascular Surgery in the IRCCS Hospital San Donato (Head Prof. D.G.Tealdi), participating deeply to the clinical activity. Recipient of fellowships granted by Cardiovascular Centre "E. Malan" of Milan, he frequented for 6 months (April-October 1995) the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Cardiovascular Institute in Buenos Aires headed by Dr. J.C. Parodi and further visited for short periods the Division of Surgery of the Sydney University (Head Dr. G. H. White) and the Arizona Heart Institute (Dr. Dietrich). He specialized in Vascular Surgery in 1995 "with laude" discussing the Thesis “Treatment of lesions in sovraortic arteries by extranatomic and percutaneous routes: comparison among expertises”.
  • In 2006 he was selected for a permanent position as research associate in Vascular Surgery (SSD-MED 22) at the University of Milan Medical School and he is presently working at the Chair of Vascular Surgery at the University Polyclinics San Donato. Since December 2010 he has been Director of Operative Unit of Vascular Surgery at IRCCS Polyclinics San Donato.
