Dr. Anil Bhansali is the Professor and Head of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh.  His pioneer work on stem cell therapy in T2DM and diabetes- related complications particularly in diabetic foot and diabetic retinopathy is widely acknowledged. His work on utility of HbA1c for the diagnosis of T2DM has been well received. He has published 406 articles in indexed, peer-reviewed International and National journals of repute in the field of Diabetes and Endocrinology.   He has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, prominent among these are the Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (Glasgow), Prof. M.N. Sen ICMR award for Pituitary disorders, Prof. M. Vishwanathan award for stem cell therapy in T2DM and Prof. Shurvir Singh award for research in diabetes, Dr. Deepak Banerjee Award,  MNF Gold Medal award for best research papers and Dr. P.N.Shah Memorial Oration Award for Metabolic Bone Disease.  He has been visiting professor to the University of Graz, Austria. He was the Ex-President Endocrine Society of India  and the Founder President of the Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter of Research Society of Study of Diabetes in India .  He is associated with numerous research committees under the auspices of ICMR and DST.
