Biography

Ruthann Russo has recently accepted a position as Director of the Public Health Program and Visiting Faculty Member at The College of New Jersey. Prior to that, she was a Teaching Fellow and faculty member in the School of Mind Body Medicine at Saybrook University and the director of Circle of Balance Wellness Center, where she provided evidence-based integrative health solutions for patients. Her research interests focus on the use of evidence-based integrative health interventions as a primary intervention to decrease chronic disease and healthcare costs (Integrative Population Health Management), as well as the use of technology and electronic health information to facilitate wellness promotion and healthcare interventions. Ruthann is the creator of MyCircleofBalance.com website, a free wellness resource that allows users to create and track their wellness planning process. She is a licensed, board certified acupuncturist, certified mind-body medicine practitioner, health coach, and yoga teacher. She has written 8 health information technology text books and 7 Steps to Your Best Possible Healthcare: The Essential Guide for Crafting Your Healthcare Plan, aimed at helping individuals to navigate the healthcare system and their own health. She is a life-long learner with doctoral degrees in Mind-Body Medicine (PhD), Law (JD), and Business Administration (PhD), masters degrees in public health (MPH) and acupuncture (MS), and a post-graduate certification in health informatics. Ruthann has successfully guided hundreds of healthcare organizations through the change management process while facilitating the design and implementation of new and innovative functions such as resiliency training and clinical documentation improvement. She has worked with over 200 healthcare systems in the past 20 years. Most recently, she has designed an employee-driven wellness program for a Fortune 100 firm. All of her work involves the use of evidence-based methods, data-driven program design, relevant outcomes metrics, and sustainable training grounded in self-efficacy, stages of change and integral theory. She was previously the CEO for both HP3 and Cabot Marsh, and a managing director with Navigant Consulting, healthcare technology and consulting firms.
