Doctor Myrto T. Samara was born in Drama, Greece, in 1985. In her early years, she won a number of student national awards such as in Physics (2001) and Chemistry (2002). In 2002, she was accepted as the top student in the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (first rank with 19.808/20) and gained a scholarship. In 2009, she started her residency in Psychiatry at the 3rd Department of Psychiatry, University Hospital AHEPA, AUTH, Greece. In 2011, she gained a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation for one-year research in Psychiatry and moved to Munich, Germany. Since then, she is a research associate in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Technische Universität München, Munich, Germany. She has coauthored many papers published in international journals such as the LANCET, the American Journal of Psychiatry, JAMA Psychiatry, Schizophrenia Bulletin, BMC Medicine, European Neuropsychopharmacology, and Schizophrenia Research. Dr. Samara's main research interest is psychopharmacology and evidence-based medicine in schizophrenia with a focus on meta-analyses, clinical trials and clinical epidemiology.
