Biography

  • Maria Marcella Laganà research strengths include inclusion and leadership in multidisciplinary collaborations with physicians, psychologists, and engineers. Ongoing teaching experience includes 5 years of lecturing courses at University of Milan as well as supervising Engineering, Physics and Medicine theses for the past 8 years.  
  • She has active interest in building and maintaining professional networks in Italy and abroad. Currently, she maintains working relationships with different Universities and manufacturers, such as Politecnico di Milan, University of Milan and University of Trento, Esaote S.p.A. and Siemens Healthineers. She actively collaborates with Prof. Haacke (Director, MR Research Center at Wayne State University, Detroit, USA) and Prof. Beggs (Professor of Applied Physiology at Leeds Beckett University, UK).  
  • Invited speaker for national and international conferences, numerous projects presented at international conference with multiple best oral presentation awards. Primary investigator of an international grant investigating perfusion changes in Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease. 
  • Several peer-reviewed publications from the methodological and clinical research projects; reviewer for numerous Journals such as European Journal of Radiology, American Journal of Neuroradiology, Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation. 

Reasearch Interest

Neuroimaging using Magnetic Resonance and Ultrasound, Project Protocols, MRI sequences and Processing Pipelines, Evaluation of neurological disorders and the effects of motor and non-motor rehabilitation.
