Dr. Cristina Roseti is a senior electrophysiologist at San Raffaele Pisana Institute of Rome, Italy. She got her degree in Pharmacy in 2005 at University of Padua (Italy), then she moved to Rome where she received the PhD in Neurophysiology from University of Rome “Sapienza”. She has been studying the physiology of ligand gated ion channels involved in refractory epilepsy by using different electrophysiological approaches. She clarified the role of adenosine receptor antagonists in the modulation of GABAA receptors in human tissues from patients affected by temporal lobe epilepsy. Now, her research centers on: understanding the basic mechanisms of GABAA receptors modulation by chemokines and cytokines with the goal of studying new therapeutic strategies for epileptic patients; studying the role of Acetylcholine receptor in the pathogenesis of Amiotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In 2013, she received the Morris-Coole Epilepsia Prize for the best research published in the field of epilepsy.
