Dr. G. Lakshmanan, completed his Doctoral Degree in University of Madras and having work experience as Saveetha Medical College and Hospital, Chennai (Assistant Professor-Research-7month to till date), Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, Puducherry (Assistant Professor) for the past 1 year 3months, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (Assistant Professor) for 9 months, Tagore Medical College & Hospital for 23 days (Junior Scientist) and Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), Chennai for Junior Scientist for 1 year.

 

I have worked as co-author and published more than 12 book chapters, filed 2 patents (Application Number: 201941027467 and 201941027468; Filed date: 09/07/2019; Publication date: 02/08/2019), and peer reviewed journal articles (31) and presentations in scientific conferences.

My research work is mainly focused on “Micropropagation and anticancer activity of methanolic extract of Plumbago auriculata, Cleome viscosa and its various biological activities”. I have experience in isolation, identification and purification of bioactive compounds and performed biochemical characterization by using various spectral techniques (UV, TLC, FTIR GC-MS, NMR (1H and 13C). I also worked on anticancer properties from medicinal plants by using different cancer cell lines (MTT assay, fluorescent microscope, DNA Fragmentation, Western blot, RT-PCR). I have also gained experience in phytochemistry, synthesis of silver nanoparticles from medicinal plants, application of synthesized nanoparticles by using antimicrobial activities and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) along with larvicidal activities. The bioactive compounds identified using these processes can be developed into potent drugs and can be utilized in many clinical trials.
