Biography

Dr. Sunirmal Jana did his Master of Science degree in Chemistry (year 1991) from Kalyani University, India and obtained his Ph.D. (Science) degree in 1998 from Jadavpur University, India. He also completed “Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) organized “Leadership Development Programme (LDP 0905)” for middle to senior level leaders” by CSIR HRDC, Gaziabad, India. In December 1997, Dr. Jana joined CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI) under Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India as a Junior Scientist. Presently, he is working as a Principal Scientist of CSIR and Associate Professor of Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR) at the same Institute. Dr. Jana has also performed his duties as a course co-ordinator and also as a teacher for the course, “Structural and functional coatings”, of AcSIR. He also acted as Guest Professor for B. Tech. students, University of Calcutta, India for the session 2016-2017. He is actively involved / coordinated / performed as Principal Investigator (PI) / Co-PI of various national and international research projects. At present, he has published about 45 research papers (h-index, 10) in internationally reputed different SCI journals, above 72 conference abstracts, 5 Book Chapters and 3 Indian patents. Presently, he has five PhD students among which Ms. M. Pal has recently awarded her PhD degree in science and Mr. S. Bera just has submitted his thesis to Jadavpur University, India. Moreover, he already guided 12 M.Tech/M.Sc/B. Tech. students for their projects for their partial fulfillment of degrees. Dr. Jana is an elected member of the Council of Indian Ceramic Society for two successive years (2015 and 2016) and one of the EC members of Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Kolkata Chapter, India. He is also the life members of Materials Research Society of India, Indian Ceramic Society, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and NCE Bengal & Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Dr. Jana availed Brain Pool Fellowship from Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies (KOFST) and worked at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Daejeon, South Korea for one year during 2005-2006. He also worked as visiting scientists at different research Institutes in abroad (Slovenia and Portugal). Presently, Dr. Jana is functioning as one of the Editorial Board Members of Advances in Nanoparticles (Scientific Research Publishing), Scholars Report and Journal of Advanced Nanomaterials. He also delivered several invited talks in India and abroad in conferences/symposiums/workshops/seminars and also performed as Chairmen of several sessions. Dr. Jana also evaluated PhD theses in science from many Indian Universities (e.g. Karunya University, Sastra University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univerisity and Periyar University). He also reviewed the research papers received from Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), American Chemical Society (ACS), Elsevier, Spingers, Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, Bulletin of Materials Science, IOP, SCIRP etc.
